Below are a few of the questions we've gotten from our customers. If you have a question that hasn't been answered below go ahead and ask us by emailing support@getrocketamp.com or using our contact page.
Will Rocketamp or amp hurt my seo?
Not at all! RocketAmp sets the canonical url to your domain for both SEO and promotional purposes. Canonical links are what tell Search Engines which domain is the authoritative domain. The notion of Canonical links was built for exactly this purpose - when content may reside on a site different than your own domain. Check out the link below for more information from Google about canonical links, specifically the section about syndicated content: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139066?hl=en
Can I use my own domain?
Absolutely. If you are on our Professional Plan you can have your very own amp domain (amp.yourwebsite.com). Once you activate the Professional Plan (or email us if you want to upgrade from our basic plan), you'll just need to head to your current web host and add 'custom.getrocketamp.com' as a CNAME. Here is a list of instructions for common web hosts.
Can i change the color of my menu/header/footer/etc.?
Absolutely! Even as part of our basic package we understand the need to keep consistency across your mobile/AMP site and your desktop site. In the dashboard you will see our Appearance Settings tool. You can use this to change almost any of the colors on your site. For more information on theming (including a video) check our this blog post: http://www.getrocketamp.com/blog/introducing-theming
How do I see all of my amp pages in The Dashboard?
We only show one page as an example on the dashboard, but the fastest way (for now) to see all of your pages, is once you have activated and Google has indexed/cached the pages, you can Google Search for that specific item from your store and click on the link, while on a mobile device. Until you activate, you will only see a preview of how the site will look in the dashboard, but you won't see it live in any search results. The 14 day trial should allow enough time for both Google to index your pages, as well as for you to review them, see them live, and collect analytics.
does rocketamp support (my special feature), or, will you support it soon?
We might. If there is a custom plugin, special feature, or certain circumstance that you need covered, let us know! Send us an email at support@getrocketamp.com and tell us what you need.
How long does it take for my pages to show up in GOogle Search Results?
As soon as you activate, we AMPify your site and submit it to Google. Exactly how long it takes is up to them but generally it takes a few days. Our 14 day free trial should give plenty of time for Google to index your AMP site and for you to start to get analytics
What do you do and what does google do?
Google developed the technology behind AMP in order to make the mobile web faster. They developed industry wide standards for how to make a website load quickly, while still having the content and information presented to users in an aesthetically pleasing way. Google uses a special copy of your main site and stores it so that the entire process from getting, sending, and loading the page is as fast as possible.
RocketAMP creates an AMP version of your mobile site that meets those standards that Google created. We dynamically create these so that the latest changes to your product catalog are made accessible through AMP. Once we render the pages, we automatically submit those pages to Google for you so that they can serve those pages to users. Our purpose is to allow you to have an always updated AMP compliant site without having to hire an expensive developer or webmaster go through your site to make these changes.

Why does my AMP site look different than my regular mobile site?
Google AMP is very strict in terms of what HTML, JavaScript, and CSS is allowed in the page. Therefore, a lot of the styling in Shopify themes is not valid for AMP. To handle this RocketAmp applies a Google AMP compliant theme. RocketAmp also strips out invalid characters from your product descriptions to make sure they are AMP compliant and that you get the benefits of AMP. If anything looks broken with your site, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Why aren't my home About, Contact, etc. pages optimized?
Right now we only default your product and collection pages (and blog pages for Professional plans) to be AMP compliant. Individual home pages or any page that has /pages/ in the URL are unique to each merchant and require custom work in order to work with AMP. If this is something you need, feel free to email us for a quote on what it would take to develop custom versions of those pages.
Why cant i see my amp pages in google?
Google controls when AMP pages are shown and they aren't showing them to everyone yet. RocketAmp makes sure that your pages are AMP compliant and that Google knows about them, but it's up to Google when to show them.
why do you need access to my google search console?
We do this for all our sites, so that we can catch any potential issues. Unfortunately, there's no other direct way for us to monitor any issues Google Search Console finds with your AMP pages.
Something came up and I need to uninstall. how do I do this?
We're sorry to see you go! If there an issue you're experiencing please email us immediately and we'll see if we can get you back on track. We'd appreciate the opportunity to make things right before you commit to leaving.
If you do decide to leave you can install the app just like any other Shopify app from you Shopify Admin Panel -> Apps -> Click on the trash can icon for RocketAmp. You may also want to edit your theme.liquid file to remove the tag for {% include 'rocketamp' %}.This is an optional step and it won't hurt anything if you decide to leave it there.

Who hosts the amp Pages?
When you create an AMP site, Google needs to know where it is stored. Since we can't store the AMP versions that we've created on your server directly (where your website is hosted), we have to render and initially store them on our servers since Google needs a place to look for them. When we tell Google about the pages, they grab a copy and place a copy on their servers for even more speedy loading for your mobile users.
My Page views are going down, what happened?
While it might appear that your page views are decreasing in your tracking software (e.g. Google Analytics) this isn't typically the case. Because RocketAmp page views are treated slightly differently than your regular webpage views, for tracking purposes they aren't counted in the same way. There are two ways to check your AMP traffic.
1. Go to your Traffic page from the RocketAmp dashboard (https://admin.getrocketamp.com/traffic)
2. You can create a new property in Google Analytics (or the similar functionality in your tracking software) and add your AMP pages there. When you determine your total page views for a given period of time, you'll need to add the AMP page views to your regular page views to get the total number across your entire site. You will need to send us the identifier you want to use for tracking your AMP pages (e..g UA-12345678-9)
